Tree Drawing Day

Join us for an experimental “Life Drawing” class in the West MacDonnell Ranges! In this class we immerse ourselves in the landscape, using trees as “life models”.

Prepare to get (more than just) your toes wet in the natural water at Ellery Creek during the warmer months, or during the cooler months, pack for an interesting hike around Ormiston Gorge.

Freedom, abstraction, and observation are the key to this class.

This class is for everyone, from beginners to experts. It is a great opportunity to look more closely at the landscape. We spend time getting to know one place well, rather than rushing through many places.

There is no obligation to share the work you make with the group.

What to Expect

We will pick you up from your Alice Springs accommodation between 8am – 9am. The drive to Ellery Creek takes approx. 1h30.

On arrival at Ellery Creek Big Hole we will spend some time getting to know the environment.

We will spend most of the day drawing trees and plants together, following the structure of a traditional life drawing class.

We will pack up around 3.30pm.

We aim to drop you off in Alice Springs between 4.30pm – 5.30pm
